Hi! Ameera here!
We live for hummus, jussssst wanted to put that out there. We just can’t help it. We “hummus” just about anything and everything. We have so many more hummus recipes to share that I keep telling mom, we just have to stop posting so many hummus recipes, but it is just so gosh-darn delicious that we can’t wait to share them all with you.
Hummus Sandwich Spread
We all know that hummus makes an excellent healthy sandwich/wrap spread. I mean come on, you’d have to be living under a rock to not know that, right? BUT then I had the idea to pickle the hummus with pickled jalapeno peppers! Ohhhhh my gosh – it turned out A-MAAAZING!
Variations
So, then we started to test out a ton of pickling variations: Pickled Hot Jalapeno Peppers, Pickled Pepperoncini Peppers, Pickled Italian Giardiniera Mix, Pickled Sweet Banana Peppers, Pickled Hot Banana Peppers, Dill Pickles; you can literally mix just about anything pickled into hummus and have it taste amazing! I have to say our very favorite is the Pickled Jalapeno Peppers (mild) version.

Veggie Wraps
Mom and I decided to test out our Pickled Hummus recipe out on my dad. While my dad loves to eat, he doesn’t hesitate to give us his honest, unvarnished opinion. He gives great feedback and rates all our dishes.
We made these super delicious veggie wraps. We used the following veggies/beans for our veggie wraps:
- Spinach wrap (Whole Food Plant Based and Gluten Free)
- Carrots, fine julienne
- Radishes, very fine slivered slices
- Bell peppers, red, yellow, orange, fine julienne
- Yellow Beets, fine julienne
- Red cabbage, fine shred
- Baby arugula
- Grape tomatoes, quartered
- Red onions, fine julienne
- Cannellini beans
- Pickled Hummus
Taste Test
We made a large spinach veggie wrap for my dad and placed a nice slathering of the Pickled Hummus inside, and added a big dollop of pickled hummus on the side for extra dipping if he wanted it. We told my dad that we were test driving the veggie wraps, but we were REALLY testing out the pickled hummus. Heh heh heh Sneaky I know, I know, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, and we just want to confirm that the Pickled Hummus was really as great as we thought it was. It was the star of the show and the veggie wrap was the excellent supporting star.
My mom gave my dad the veggie wrap and walked away.
7 to 10 Minutes Later
Mom and I started to clean up the kitchen and then Mom went to check with my dad about 7 to 10 minutes later. All of a sudden, I heard my mom laughing, I don’t know if you have ever heard my mom laugh before, but she can really belly laugh. Her laugh is so funny and contagious. If you hear her laughing, you can’t help but smile because it is so ridiculously loud and hilarious. I am smiling just thinking about her laugh, but I will let her tell you the rest of the story!
Robin here!
So, after Monkey and I started cleaning up, I went to check in on TP109. I was super curious if he would comment on the veggie wrap, or the pickled hummus, or both.
I walked into the living room to find TP using his finger to swipe up the last of the pickled hummus that I had left as a big dollop on the side of his plate. His plate was empty and he was basically licking the plate. HAH!
TP109 Approved
TP said “That sandwich hummus stuff was delicious! I really enjoyed it in the wrap and on the side. Dang that stuff is sooooo good! I don’t know what sorcery you two did to that hummus, but it is mighty fine!”
I started laughing because he was so excited over something as simple as hummus. Mind you TP loves hummus as it is always in our fridge for snacking, but to see him get super excited over hummus just tickled me to no end.
I really hope you give this Pickled Jalapeno Hummus a try, it is just that GOOD!

Description
This creamy and smooth pickled hummus is so yummy, perfect for dipping veggies or as a spread on wraps and sandwiches. The pickled flavor is out of this world tasty! If you love pickled foods, you will fall in love with our Pickled Hummus. Vegan, oil free, gluten free, refined sugar free, and no highly processed ingredients.
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups hummus (or you can use our hummus recipe)
- ½ cup pickled deli-sliced tamed jalapeno peppers (remove seeds, if any) *
- 2 Tablespoons pickling juice (from the pickled jalapeno peppers jar)
Alternative Pickling Options (remove seeds, if any)
- Pickled Hot Jalapeno Peppers
- Pickled Pepperoncini Peppers (start with less than ½ cup and taste test)

- Pickled Sweet Banana Peppers
- Pickled Hot Banana Peppers (start with less than ½ cup and taste test)
Instructions
- Add the prepared hummus, mild jalapeno peppers, and juice (from the jalapeno peppers) to a food processor. Pulse several times, then puree until smooth, approx. 3 to 4 minutes.
- Test the flavors, add more peppers, if desired, and pulse again.
- In order to create a very smooth and creamy hummus, you may need to add a little more juice or water.
- Enjoy as a wrap/sandwich spread.
Notes
*Peppers: We used Mezzetta Deli-Sliced Tamed Jalapeno Peppers. “Tamed” = mild. This is a beautiful wrap/sandwich spread hummus. The intensity of the flavor will largely depend upon how many pickled peppers or veggies you use, as well as, if you are using a mild or hot mix. You can increase the flavor by adding more peppers or pickling juice.
*Hummus: We used our The Best Hummus recipe. Please note that this recipe makes 5 cups of hummus. You will only use 2 1/2 cups of hummus for this recipe. See the first bullet under the ingredients (2 1/2 cups). You can also use 2 1/2 cups of your favorite hummus.
Storage: Store in the fridge and eat within one week.

I have to tell you… i made your best hummus recipe and while it was smooth and creamy, it was so blend that i almost cried. I am going to try to salvage it with spices and maybe a roasted eggplant.
