Hi there, Ameera here!
This homemade Italian marinara sauce is easy to make and utterly delicious. This sauce tastes like it simmered for hours to perfection, yes, it is really that good! It’s amazing with pasta, as an add-in, and for delicious dipping, and we are super excited to share this recipe with you.
Sauce Yumminess
Mom and I were on a mission to make a fast and easy marinara sauce that hit all the high notes that make a great sauce. It is bold, full of great flavor, thick, easy, and takes less than 10 minutes to make.
Annnnd the best part: it is healthy, refined sugar free, oil free, and made with minimally processed ingredients! Now how cool is that?
Bold and Flavorful
We had Dad taste test this sauce, but we didn’t tell him that it was a fast and easy sauce. He absolutely loved it. He honestly thought we had been simmering it on the stove all day.
Normally, he is home to see if the sauce had actually simmered on the stove all day as he is retired, but lately he has all these lunch dates with tons of his buddies that last the better part of most days. He spends hours with them discussing the New York Giants. He is a NY Giants fan through and through.
Italian Baked Zucchini Fries
This sauce is perfect for pasta drenching, but we also love this beautiful sauce with our Italian Baked Zucchini Fries. Oh my goodness, what a great combination! If you would like to learn more about the zucchini fries, stay tuned – recipe coming this Friday!
I’ll let Mom tell you more.

Does this have a sweet taste? If so, can I just leave out the maple syrup? I prefer a savory tomato taste.
Hi there Donna 🙂
Thank you so much for reaching out to us. In our opinion, this is not a sweet style Italian sauce as we too prefer a savory sauce. The maple syrup helps to reduce the acidic quality in the tomatoes. You can always leave it out. Or at the end, add one teaspoon of maple syrup, stir it in. Then taste test the sauce and add little maple syrup at a time, continuing to taste test in between, until you have the right amount for your personal preference.
