Hi there, Ameera here!
This amazing Vegan Tartar Sauce goes perfectly with our Vegan “Crab” Cakes. It is the perfect blend of tang and tart. The salty, briny flavor of the capers, coupled with the chives perfectly complements the acidity of the lemon juice, nicely rounding out the flavors. We love it!
The capers really make the flavor of this sauce come together, so definitely, don’t leave them out. They take it to a new level of yumminess. They are so worth it.
This homemade tartar sauce is a much healthier version and is a great condiment.
If you have any left over, simple add some water or vinegar and use it as a salad dressing with some pitted kalamata olives. Don’t even get me started on olives. I live for olives! I have so many favorite types.
“Sangwich”
There is this little Italian store that has been around forever. My dad has been shopping there since he moved to Canton in the early 1980s. They have amazing olives!
Every Saturday morning, my dad would go there and purchase deli meat, Italian sausage, Italian bread, and an assortment olives. Back then, we never fully understood how bad deli meat was for us.
He would bring his bounty home and we would all make a hard salami (or other deli meat) “sangwich” (sandwich) for lunch, along with Italian bread and olives. “Sangwich”, yup my dad calls sandwiches “sangwiches.” Maybe it’s an Italian New Yorker thing because all my Italian relatives call sandwiches “sangwiches” too. 🙂
Robin here!
Don’t you get tired of reading labels? I know I do. There are so many chemicals in our food that homemade is just the better choice, don’t ya think?
This tartar sauce is really tasty. I love the capers. I never used capers much in the past; I never realized what I was missing until recently. A whole new world of flavors opened up when we went Vegetarian, then Vegan, and finally Whole Food Plant Based. It forces you to become very creative in the kitchen, which is great because I love being creative in the kitchen.
We hope you enjoy our Tartar Sauce too!
