Hi there, Ameera here!
This week’s Whip It Up Wednesday is our Vegan Tangy White Cheese Sauce. We originally made this sauce to go with our Vegan Patty Melt Burger. It is sooo gosh-darned delicious on that burger, we totally LOVED it.
Then we gave our Patty Melt Burger with some extra Vegan Tangy White Cheese Sauce on the side of the plate to Dad and he started dipping his steamed potatoes and veggies in the sauce and proclaimed it “UTTERLY AMAZING,” so we decided to give this fantastic sauce its own post.

Stay Tuned
Our Vegan Patty Melt Burger comes out this Friday (3-13-2020.) That burger is so freakin’ DELICIOUS, we can’t wait for you to try it. This sauce just sends it over the top with flavor.
We were dancing all over the kitchen eating it. Actually, to be honest, we were seated and dancing in our seats because that burger is definitely a two-fisted “hunch” burger. You need both hands and you need to hunch over your plate to eat it.
Sauce on Everything!
Dad started to put this sauce on everything under the sun. We did a number of test batches so he was putting it on his steamed potatoes, then drizzling it over roasted veggies.
The next day we caught him putting it on a baked potato filled with steamed broccoli. He gave it a perfect 10 score, which is rare from him. He said he could eat it every day. He loved it!
Whip it up Wednesday
As you already know, every Wednesday, we feature a quick and easy recipe that can be “whipped up” in 20 minutes or less.
This recipe can be made in less than 20 minutes, 5 minutes, if you don’t count the 15 minutes of soaking the cashews, which really helps speed things up in the kitchen.
We hope you enjoy our new Whip It Up Wednesday quick and easy ideas!
If you try this tasty sauce, we would love to know if you enjoy it as much as we do! Please leave us a review! Post a picture on Facebook or Instagram and tag us! We would love to hear from you.

Saw this, this morning and just had to make it for lunch today! I drizzled over black rice, chickpeas, broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. I think I might love it as much as your Dad! This sauce/dressing would taste great on anything! Thank you so much. I love finding new yummy sauces.

Hi, I am in the process of making this sauce and realize that my tahini is expired. Do you know of a good substitute that would work for this recipe? Thank you!
Hi there Kathy 🙂
Thank you so much for reaching out to us. The tahini creates another level of flavor with its slightly “bitter” notes. We have not tried any substitutions for this recipe. Perhaps sunflower seed butter might give you that similar depth of flavor. Or you could just leave it out and adjust the seasonings as needed. Hope this helps and we hope you enjoy this sauce as much as we do!

How long will this last after made?
Also, tried it on the black bean patty melt burger – my first veggie based burger and cheese sauce. Delicious! I’m trying to go on a plant based diet and foods like this make it easy. I’ll definitely follow your website for more recipes.
Hi there Dedra 🙂
We sincerely apologize for the late response as Monkey has been on maternity leave and we are now just being able to address comments – thank you for your patience.
The sauce should last around 5 days. We are so glad that you enjoyed our black bean patty melt burger! Thank you so much for your kind words about our site and for taking the time to write.

Hi – I have a question about the vinegar. Is that white wine vinegar? I think of distilled white vinegar as something to clean with. Just want to be sure! Thanks in advance!
Hi there Dorothy 🙂
Thank you so much for reaching out to us! No, it is not white wine vinegar. We are using distilled white vinegar. Make sure it isn’t the “cleaning” distilled vinegar, but cooking distilled vinegar. This is the type of vinegar that is typically used to create pickled items. Distilled white vinegar can be used to clean, but it is also used in many cooking methods. Using distilled white vinegar creates a “clean” tangy note to the cheese sauce without influencing the flavor.

If we can’t use cashews due to allergies, is there a substitution you would recommend? White beans or Tofu for instance?
Hi there Nicole 🙂
Thank you so much for reaching out to us. You can substitute with white beans or silken tofu with the understanding that the texture and flavor will be impacted.

I don’t like vinegar. Could I substitute lemon juice or leave it out?
Hi there Victoria,
We apologize for the late response, this review got away from us. You can try, but you will have to find something else to balance out the flavors. We have no tested any substitutions nor do we have any suggestions. So sorry.
