Hi! Ameera here!
This Spicy Black Beans dish bursts with amazing flavor. They are perfectly seasoned and tastes great on its own, or mixed into any number of other dishes. The simple ingredients, coupled with how quickly this dish comes together makes it a perfect recipe!
It’s versatile!
We make this recipe all the time, and we use it for quick meals like quesadillas, except without the cheese of course, which is kind of oxymoronic since the word “quesadilla” literally translates to “little cheese pastry” in Mexican Spanish; and our WFPB lifestyle excludes cheese. LOL I think the word quesadilla has become synonymous with two crisped tortilla shells with assorted fillings inside.
It’s like Glue! Say what?
We use the Spicy Black Beans and smash them up slightly to use as a glue to keep the two tortillas together (replacing the cheese part.) It works perfectly when making “quesadillas,” which we love making since they are quick and easy. They are on our regular meal rotation.
Mom and Katie
Mom and Katie are Southwestern food fanatics. They love anything with a Southwestern flair. The Whole Food Plant Based lifestyle really lends itself to making amazing Southwestern style foods as you can easily. Our Spicy Black Beans pair perfectly with our Mexican Rice for a super fast and simple meal!
Charlotte too!
This past summer when Chris, Katie, and Charlotte visited, we introduced Charlotte to our Spicy Black Beans; she loved them! At first, we were a little hesitant to give them to her since she was only 14 months old at the time, and we thought they might be too spicy for her. She ate one, then she immediately went for more! Nothing bland for this little girl! She likes spice!
Robin here!
It’s true. I love Southwestern food. I love this dish; and how versatile the recipe is for making other dishes. But what I love most about it is how fast it is to make. It is done is in less than 8 minutes. Doesn’t get much better than that, right?
When I’m hangry and looking for a quick fix, I love to make our Salsa Veggie Bowls using our Spicy Black Bean recipe, Mexican Rice, and delicious veggies – YUM!

Not quite sure on these Chipotle Spices, even after a search. Do you have a recommendation? Thank you so much! Your site is the push that got me over the hump to WFPB!
