Hi! Ameera here!
This Simple Cranberry Sauce is a spin-off recipe of our Cranberry Fruit Salad, which has been a holiday tradition in our family for many, many years. The difference is this recipe is for those folks who enjoy a delicious cranberry sauce without all the bells and whistles.
It’s pure, traditional, and simple. What’s not to love?
It’s literally fool proof and so easy to make that you will wonder where it has been all your life.
Easy and Tasty
This recipe is so easy to make, seriously! You can’t mess it up. The sauce can be made in 5 to 7 minutes. Plus, you could make it ahead of time or even the day before to make Thanksgiving day a little less stressful.
Let’s face it, anything that makes the Big day easier, is always a winner in our book. Annnd you can eat this delicious sauce warm or cold.
Fresh or Frozen Cranberries
You can use fresh or frozen cranberries in this recipe with the same exact results. We like to use frozen simply because we stock up on them as most grocery stores only carry fresh and frozen cranberries starting in November through the end of December. Then they disappear until the following year.
Cranberries are a superfood
Cranberries are considered a superfood due to their high antioxidants. Cranberries have been shown to lower the risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs), improved immune function, decreased blood pressure, and the potential power to reduce the risk of stomach cancer and ulcers.
We are so in love with this Simple Cranberry Sauce that we ate it all up! If you want to really kick it up a notch, check out our Cranberry Fruit Salad.
If you try this delicious recipe, we would love to know if you enjoy it as much as we do! Please leave us a review! Post a picture on Facebook or Instagram and tag us! We would love to hear from you.

Description
Fast and easy, this Simple Cranberry Sauce is perfectly sweetened, lightly tart, and has all your favorite holiday spices.
Ingredients
- 1 – [ 16 oz. package ] frozen cranberries (or fresh) *
- 2/3 cup water
- ½ cup + 3 Tablespoons pure maple syrup (+/-) *
- 1 – 2 teaspoons cinnamon (+/-) *
- 1/8 – ¼ teaspoon allspice (+/-) *
- Pinch – 1/8 teaspoon clove (+/-) *
Instructions
- Place all the Cranberry Sauce ingredients into a small sauce pan and bring to a boil. Boil for 4 to 5 minutes (or longer) until all the cranberries have burst and the sauce thickens, then lower to a medium-low boil and boil for several minutes, mashing any remaining unburst cranberries with a fork or wooden spoon.
- Taste test for flavor, adjust as needed by adding more spices or maple syrup, then cook for several more minutes.
- Remove from the heat and allow to cool. Refrigerate.
Notes
*Flavor: As the sauce cools, the sweetness and spices will come to the forefront.
*Spices (allspice, cinnamon, clove): The beauty of this dish is that the spices can be easily adjusted to suit your own personal preferences. We strongly suggest starting on the low-end of the cinnamon amount and building up. There is a wide variation in cinnamons on the market. Some brands are intensely flavorful while others are mild and sweet.
*Maple Syrup: This is the exact amount that we enjoyed. However, feel free to start at a lower amount like 1/3 Cup and increase accordingly. You can always add more maple syrup, but you cannot take it away.
*Orange: Feel free to add orange juice and/or orange zest if you enjoy those flavors.
*Serving: Makes approximately 2 ½ cups of cranberry sauce
*Storage: Refrigerate and use within 5 days.
