Ameera here!
This week’s Whip It Up Wednesday is our Lemon Hemp Dressing. I always find it a tiny bit humorous when folks get overly concerned about consuming hemp seeds. I admit, it is easy to get confused as “hemp” and “marijuana” often times are used interchangeably.
Hemp is part of the cannabis plant family; however, the plant is completely different in the way it is grown, cultivated, and used. Its seeds and stalks are used for food, supplements, body products, paper, etc. On the other hand, Marijuana is a cannabis plant that is harvested for medicine and psychoactive properties (“to get stoned.”)
The good news is hemp seeds are perfectly legal in every state, very healthy for you, and not the same as ingesting marijuana. Additionally, you can’t get stoned by eating hemp seeds, nor can you test positive for marijuana use by consuming hemp seeds.
Just wanted to clear up some misconceptions of the tasty and healthy hemp seed 😉
Health Benefits of Hemp Seed Consumption
Hemp seeds may reduce the risk of heart disease; have benefits for those who have skin disorders because of their omega 6 and omega 3 fatty acids. They may reduce PMS and menopause symptoms. Hemp seeds also aid in digestion due to their excellent soluble fiber.

I made this dressing yesterday and it’s delicious. I had it on my arugula salad. The hemp seeds gave it a similar texture to Parmesan cheese, which is how I ate the salad pre-WFPB. This dressing is a keeper, very versatile. Thank you!
Hi there Sara 🙂
Awe, yay! So excited that you enjoyed our Lemon Hemp Dressing! Isn’t it awesome how the hemp seeds create that parmesan like flavor? We just love it! So glad that it feels similar to the way you enjoyed your salads pre-wfpb <3

Love the flavor of this dressing! I followed the recipe to a T because it was my first time making it but mine came out very watery and loose, not sure why? I’ll decrease the water next time because I enjoy a creamier texture. But the recipe is definitely a keeper, very yummy.
Hi there 🙂
We’re sorry that your dressing turned out too watery. Not sure what happened there as that has never happened to us. We are glad you enjoyed the flavor. We appreciate you taking the time to write.

This is delicious! I add water in small amounts to make sure it doesn’t get too thin. I make it in double batches. I don’t miss any of the cashew dressings I was making. It goes on almost anything!
Hi there Kathy,
We apologize for the late response, this review got away from us. Awesome! We are thrilled that you enjoyed this recipe! Thank you so much for the awesome review.
