Notes
*Dijon Mustard/Vinegar/Maple Syrup: Our family loved this dressing; however, we each had preferences over the multiple kitchen tests. Some preferred more Dijon mustard, while others liked more pops of vinegar tang. Others preferred more sweetness. This recipe is a great base to start. It is perfectly delicious with the ingredient measurements listed in the recipe but can be easily customized to suit individual preferences.
*Orange Zest/Mandarin Orange Slices: As you can see in the photos, we topped our salad with mandarin orange slices. In several kitchen tests, we used orange zest and in others we used mandarin orange slices. If you use mandarin orange slices (from a peeled mandarin orange), make sure you get all the pith off as it can turn the dressing bitter if you don’t. We used Dole Mandarin Oranges (in 100% fruit juice) in both the dressing and to top the salad. It’s totally optional but does add great citrus flavor to the dressing (and salad).
*Dressing Color: FYI: Hemp seeds can sometimes add a slightly green cast to the dressing.
*Sea Salt: Please adjust the sea salt based upon your family’s sea salt preferences and/or based upon dietary needs.
*Serving: Makes approximately 3/4 cup of dressing.
*Storage: Refrigerate and use within 5 days.

Hi, do you guys have any salad dressings without nuts, tahini or seeds? My husband has just started following the Esselstyn plan and can’t have any of these. thanks!
Hi there Debbie 🙂 Thank you so much for reaching out to us! Since we do not use oil, we use nuts, seeds, tofu, or beans to help cut the vinegar/acidity in salad dressings. Most of our recipes us a little nuts or seeds, but we are aware that in the Esselstyn plan, one cannot eat those items. The Esselstyn plan is one of the most restrictive of the WFPB plans, but for good reason as it is typically used for the fastest method to healing the body through a plant based diet after a major life event. I just tried this tonight. I need to eat more salad but I haven’t been motivated because it’s hard to find a vegan oil free dressing that I like. This one is a winner and I am looking forward to enjoying salads again! Thanks for this wonderful recipe. The only sub that I made was to use 5 pieces of a fresh mandarin since I have a bag full. Delicious!
Hi there Helene 🙂
Awesome-sauce!!! We are so thrilled that you enjoyed this dressing, and it is a winner! We are salad lovers, but we definitely is all about the dressing. We are so glad you are looking forward to salads again. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful feedback with us!

Hello! I am new to hemp seeds. Did you use hulled or unhulled hemp seeds?
Hi there Connie,
Excellent question! So much so that it caused us to take another look to see how we wrote the ingredients. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We used hulled hemp seed hearts.
