This aromatic and delicious Spicy Bean Burger paired with a tasty Garlic Sauce takes burger enjoyment to a whole new level! This beauty was inspired by the Middle Eastern kafta burger. Our vegan version is packed with onions, parsley, garlic, cumin, red pepper flakes as well as other tasty spices and ingredients. The creamy garlic sauce is get-in-my-belly goodness, making this duo the perfect veggie bean burger. Whole Food Plant Based dish, vegan, no oil, no sugar, no highly processed ingredients, and gluten free.


  • 2/3 cup [raw] cashews *
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • ¾ to 1 teaspoon sea salt (+/- to taste *)
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 Tablespoons unsweetened plain plant milk


  1. Quick soak the cashews by placing the cashews in a bowl, then add boiling water just to cover them.  Soak for 20 minutes, then discard the water.
  2. Place the soaked cashews and all the remaining ingredients in a high-speed blender.  Blend on high for one minute until very smooth and creamy.
  3. Taste test the garlic sauce, adjust the flavors as needed.


*Cashew Substitutions:  You can substitute the cashews for the typical substitutes: silken tofu, white beans, or other nuts or seeds with the understanding that the flavor and texture will change accordingly.

*Sea Salt: Please adjust the sea salt based upon your family’s sea salt preferences and/or based upon dietary needs.

*Serving:  Makes approx. 1 cup of garlic sauce
